Reethi Faru Resort, The Maldives

Our bio luxury resort, on the secluded, private island of Filaidhoo, is proud to have guardianship of all that nature has created on this tiny island in Raa Atoll, measuring just six hundred by three hundred and fifty meters.

The vibrant house reef, teeming with marine life, lies just a step off the shore and our commitment to minimizing the impact on the thriving eco system has led to the development of a series of coral nurseries, alongside numerous conservation initiatives, in order to maintain and even enhance the natural landscape of this bio luxury resort.

Returned recently from Reethi Faru after having a wonderful holiday A beautiful place looked after after by wonderful staff Nothing a problem here staff take care of everything. Accommadation in de luxe beach villa was magnificent. Quietest air con ever. Spotlessly clean. Restaurant service really good. Food delicious and varied. Have to say thanks to all staff for making our stay a very enjoyable one. Special thanks to Rasheed, Adam, Mahuud ,Maddan and the chef who cooked our breakfast each day, Bo Ho ma Stutthi. Plus the guy in the nahla bar. Well done all A very enjoyable experience. We will be back.

  • "expected and unexpected"
the good reethi management always guarantee things. even though there were mid core reviews for this new island. I still came with confidence. then it turn out to be much better than expected first of all,the island itself is so beautiful, huge areas of sand beach , no man made blocks for sand erosion, sand beach is soft , but sand path is hard though. the pool looks very nice . the weather has been perfect so far, not even one drop of rain. but water clarity is not that great as reethi beach in July I had a manta cleaning station trip yesterday. saw 2 mantas, one of them circled beneath us for like 30 mins, at one point she even danced contrary to some other reviews , I find reethi faru is a slightly better island than reethi beach, the island is huge maybe due to its width. there are good spaces between villas which means privacy, occupancy rate is below 40 percent with 90 ish guest over all, but at dinner its feels like its a lot less than 90 ppl, the room is in perfect condition, the sheet is really dry and warm, some resorts has damp sheet. air con is strong, hot water is strong the snorkeling is fantastic, it seems the reethi brand is always associated with easy access reef and fish soup. the reef is so close to shore, and there are tons of fish on the lower side of the island. the corals are dead like everywhere else. I really hate ti type this sentence every island I visited. from the dead structure of the reef, I could really imagine how breathtaking it could have been food is good as average 5 stars

From the moment I arrived at Male airport I felt so welcomed and taken care of. The island itself is pure paradise. There are only smiling faces everywhere. The villas are wonderful hideaways with private terrace and beach... I went there alone. It was the perfect experience! Special thanks to Sina for the caring and smiling service!

  • "Wonderful Holiday"
This was our 12th visit to the Maldives and having enjoyed Reethi Beach last year we were looking forward to experiencing the new resort of Reethi Faru. We were not disappointed and agreed that the management has done a good job of transferring the laid back but excellent service vibe from Reethi Beach to the new island. The two weeks at the end of June and beginning of July when we visited the resort was only about half full but the food in the restaurant was still very varied and well prepared and cooked. The fresh salads with the evening service were also exceptional as was the service from Sina and his team. Jitan in the sunset bar also provided a great drinks service during a stop on our afternoon walk around the beautiful island. Our Jacuzzi villa was perfectly placed on the sandy beach and on the few days it did rain the jacuzzi was a great way of passing the time when not snorkelling the reef. The villas are well equipped and comfortable. All thing considered we had a great time and enjoyed a wonderful holiday.

  • "Fabulous Faru"
Reethi Faru Review We have been to the sister island Reethi Beach some seven times and were looking forward to a similar, or better experience on Reethi Faru. We spent twelve nights in the last two weeks of August. As usual we flew overnight with Emirates and arrived at about 9.30 am. We were met at the airport by a hotel representative who supervised our baggage drop at Trans Maldivian Airways and then to the seaplane terminal where we had a wait of a couple of hours. The seaplane flight was uneventful although the weather deteriorated and we arrived at Reethi Faru with it being heavily overcast and by evening heavy rain and strong winds. In fact it was so windy on arrival that the plane had to set down at the offshore pontoon rather than the platform on the arrival jetty. This weather lasted the following two days off and on and was part of the same weather system that caused the floods in Kerala. After that we had glorious weather – perfect in fact and matching what we have experienced in the Maldives in the Spring. We had a deluxe beach villa near the walkway to the Dhiyavaru Bar and the room facilities are excellent. The air conditioning is relatively quiet and the ceiling fans work really well. There are several channels on the huge TV set that may be useful in really bad weather. The access to the beach is through sliding patio doors. Some have commented on these not being able to be locked from the outside but this was not a problem as we did not need to lock them when going to the beach and if you then decide to go for a swim or a walk I very much doubt that the lack of the lock is likely to be a problem. Access to the beach from the other end of the villa would solve the problem – but this is likely to be blocked by vegetation. The bed is very comfortable and it was the first time I have had a light duvet as a bed cover. The highlight of the room must be the superb bathroom with the completely outside rain shower – wonderful! As usual we went B&B so breakfast is included in the costing. The island has many similarities with Reethi Beach. The Dhiyavaru Bar is the equivalent of the Moodhu on RB and has a similar menu. The main bar and restaurant would be very familiar to those who have visited RB. The Reethi Grill has a wonderful beach front position and we had several good meals there, including a specially laid out table on our wedding anniversary. I can highly recommend the Kadai Paneer. Prices are a little higher than at RB and there are a few differences in the grill menu. The food is of good quality and there is plenty of choice. The island is larger than RB but the paths are laid out so that walking distances are not much greater, if at all. The landscaping is a work still in progress but it takes time for the vegetation to develop. The garden team however are doing excellent work including planting the walls of buildings notably that at the pool which is softening the look. The area behind the tennis courts will take considerably longer to be screened. The snorkelling was generally good although the staghorn corals have suffered a lot from bleaching that has led to their death. The more solid Porites types have survived much better. This was explained to me by the resident marine biologist Smurtica who organises a monthly environmental day which guests can be involved in. The best coral development I saw was on the drop off opposite the Nala Bar. There are lots of sea lilies and anemones with clown fish. Whilst the variety of fish is diverse there seemed to be fewer large shoals of fish – although I am prepared to admit that this is a rather unscientific observation. Other than over the drop off I really enjoyed the snorkelling over the reef flat on the south west side, opposite the deluxe Jacuzzi beach villas. Here you can snorkel which is two to three metres deep, depending on the tide. The island map that we were given on arrival shows exit points on the reef and where not to snorkel. Some visitors have commented on biting insects and yes there are some so take some repellent – it may help. My view is that you cannot take an uninhabited island such as this, develop it, and get rid of all the pests that may be present – impossible to so sterilise the place so you have to accept it. There were times however when we did encounter insecticide fogging going on that may help over time. All of the staff from the moment of arrival to the point of departure were excellent and it was good to see a number of familiar faces from our visits to RB and we were grateful to all those in the Dhiyavaru Bar – particularly for the special attention at lunch on our wedding anniversary and again for the table outside on our last night. Any problems? Not really, a few minor ones, although on a couple of occasions the food was a little slow coming from the kitchen in the Dhiyavaru Bar and there is a dress code that men should wear shirts at mealtimes that was not enforced. Perhaps there could be a few shirts from various departments on the island held in reserve for those who come without. My wife found the length of flex on the hairdryer was rather short, approx. one metre. The only place to use it with a mirror is in the bathroom which does have a large ceiling fan making control of the hairstyle a little difficult if it is used. All in all a thoroughly excellent resort and we hope to return within a year or two.

  • "Amazing House Reef!!!"
I've been on a few holidays to the Maldives, but Reethi Faru's house reef was the best. As soon as I landed in England after 2 weeks of being away, I immediately wanted to go back. The staff were so welcoming (as they always are) but everywhere you looked there was a smile thrown you're way by everyone working there. Although the trips I went on dismal at most; the manta exscertion and night fishing; for starters, putting aside the fact that we didn't see any manta rays, there was hardly anything to see except the odd turtle, we then find out (after we'd already paid and gone on the trip) that there hadn't been any sightings since May anyway, which would have been very useful information to have before hand. The reef was okay, but the house reef at Reethi Faru was so much better. I wouldn't waste you're money with this trip. However, I loved the island and the beaches and sunsets were so enjoyable, as well as the pool. Absolutely beautiful scenery everywhere you looked. Just a tip if you decide to go to Reethi Faru, stay at the pool till about 8 o'clock, and walk over to the bridge in-between the pool and dive centre, the sunset is gorgeous!

  • "Amazing Vacation"
I stayed with my daughters aged 12 and 15 at Reethi Faru water villa for couple of days in the month August. We took sea plane and while going got the window seat and captured fantastic view of Maldives. From the moment we had arrived the resort and till we left we had been take care very well. Soni welcomed us and helped us settled down in few minutes, showed us our villa and ensured wifi works for my kids. She helped us with late check out by booking evening sea plane so that we could enjoy more time at the island. Learnt booking through booking.com is expensive compared to booking through resort directly when I was planning to extend the stay, so next time will book directly. Front desk staffs Soni, Soso, Aslam are so much fun, friendly and patient. We opted for all-inclusive packages so we had most of our meal at Main Restaurant (Vakaru). The food was delicious and lot of varieties to choose salad, dessert, European, Maldivian cuisine etc. I don’t drink alcohol but we ordered Virgin Colada that was part of inclusive beverage package during our meals. Chef Nilanga Sadaruwan is great in understanding the need and serving how we like. Chef Arun and waiter Naeem were so friendly and entertaining. Once we visited Dhivayaru for our afternoon snack and enjoyed watching colorful fishes, it was a beautiful evening. I used the complimentary coupon for coconut spa. Kiki was good and the decorations were very pretty. We did parasailing and dolphin safari in water sports. Unfortunately we couldn’t see any of the dolphins but Abu in Water sports made the money worth by taking us to Sand bank and snorkeling. He was very kind to capture the memory that’s memorable forever. Kudos to the Master Chef and the management team to treat the staffs very well that they serve their customer with the same happiness. We enjoyed every moment at Reethi Faru and highly recommend to anyone.

  • "An amazing resort"
I stayed in Reethi Faru in the last week of July and first week of August travelling with my wife and three children aged 14, 12 and 6. I have been to the Maldives ten times and have stayed at Reethi Beach twice in the past hence why I wanted to stay at Reethi Faru and I sincerely hoped it would have some of the magic of Reethi Beach. I wasn't disappointed. It is still quite new and it takes time to develop the intimacy that you feel at Reethi Beach, having said that given the choice of where I would return to Reethi Faru would be my choice. I stayed in a family deluxe beach villa and the room was perfect for us. Everything was brand new, worked well and had quality fixtures and fittings. Our room boy Shahadat looked after us very well and his flower arrangements were as good as any I've experienced in the Maldives, probably better actually well done Shahadat. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and ate at both the overwater restaurant and Reethi Grill. The food at the grill is prepared by the same Chef who worked at Reethi Beech which was fantastic news, his cooking is absolutely awesome thank you so much. The island is stunning and you can see how given a couple more years will be even better, the Reethi Garden in particular is a work in progress but still beautiful to visit while we were there. In terms of the house reef from a snorkelling point of view we saw manta's, eagle rays, turtles, black tip reef sharks, stone fish (swimming), big schools of fusilliers, snappers and all the usual reef fish. Diving the house reef the coral is great shape and the fish life is superb. Reethi Faru is a great island for marine life and compares well with all of the other islands we've visited. In terms of diving in general and the Sea Explorer dive centre I can safely say they are doing amazing things. Their program for generating life on the reef is unique as far as I know. Patrick the dive centre manager is so enthusiastic about diving and marine life in general which is really important, he loves the sea and is as excited about seeing life as we are. The team invite divers to participate in the program which is a really exciting dive. My son completed his advanced course and nitrox course and my daughter completed her open water course. The level of tuition was second to none, Patrick in particular helped my daughter through some difficult situations and was relaxed and patient, the rest of the team are all really good company and fantastic divers. I look forward to diving with you all again as soon as possible. The dive sites we went to were all great with fantastic coral, as good as anywhere we've been to in the Maldives. If you're interested in the Spa it is really well done and looks amazing, the girls who work their are great and good at what they do, they work really hard and go out of their way to look after you. All in all I loved it, the facilities are amazing, the pool is great, the watersports centre has jetskis, plus all the latest gear, the chap who runs it is a top bloke and all the guys who work there can't do enough for you. The front of house team will go out of their way to smooth out any issues, thanks to Inasha and Mohammed who are more friends than staff we miss you. If you're thinking about going just book it. It's a great place and we're coming back when we next book the Maldives.
