The Four Seasons restaurant — not to be confused with the hotel — is another New York landmark. Its Pool Room is said to be the most beautiful place in any New York restaurant. Walk down "Picasso Alley" between the Pool Room and the Grill Room and see something many locals miss: the monumental Picasso on the wall. It should give you a taste for a stroll along 53rd Street between 5th and 6th avenues to New York's newest landmark: the stunning, recently renovated Museum of Modern Art. Take in an exhibition or spend the afternoon meditating on the work of a favorite artist. Try a glass of fine wine and sample the exceptional desserts in the Terrace 5 cafe overlooking the Sculpture Garden before you leave.
Head to Broadway and see how a show is really done on the "Great White Way." We can arrange tickets — even to the sold-out shows. Afterwards, take a cab down to the Meatpacking district for some super-chic dining at Morimoto. Rub shoulders with the famous while sampling the latest delicacies from Japan's "Iron Chef." New York does a cocktail better than anywhere in the world. Have yours in Gansevoort's rooftop lounge before dancing the night away in the district's top clubs. Watch the sunrise at the Cafeteria Restaurant over coffee and scrambled eggs.

  • "Great hotel for 1st visit to NYC"
This was my first visit to NYC and a friend who is from NY and works as a travel agent recommended this hotel. We checked in about 6 PM. The check in went smoothly and the lobby was very attractive. My birthday was during our stay and the clerk wished me a happy birthday and gave me two complimentary drink tickets for the Gin Bar. The room was very nice and luxurious, both the room and bathroom are a little small. From reviews I gather this is typical of NYC hotels. We loved the location of the hotel and were able to walk to so many attractions, restaurants and shopping. We only needed to use the subway to get to the Financial District and the Lower East Side. There were several subway stations very close by. The Intercontinental New York Barclay has a $34.43/day resort fee. However, they give you a $25/day food or beverage credit/day. This does not accrue, so make sure that you use it each day. We had coffee and tea a few times in the Gin Bar. We also used our credit to buy expensive bottled water; we needed water a few days and this was better than wasting a credit. The resort fee also covers internet access, phone calls and give you a $10/day laundry or dry cleaning credit. We did not use the laundry credit. I would stay at the intercontinental New York Barclay again!

  • "An ellegant hotel in the middle of Manhattan"
I spent 4 night in this hotel this July. We arrived at 10 pm and the check-in was fast. The rooms are ok, very clean, the beds are good, also the pillows. We didn't find slippers, I don't understand why it is so difficult to have at least one pair of slippers in the room... The breakfest is very good, a lot of hot and cold dishes, fruits, yoghurt, desserts, I really enjoed the breakfast! The personnel from the restaurant was very kind, the made you feel very comfortable at the breakfeast. The personnel from the reception was polite, but I think they were too serious, they could smile just a little to make the people feel relaxed! The gentleman who helped us with the taxi was the only warm person, he was also very gentle. The hotel is very elegant and has very good services, I recomand itif you come in New York! It is closed to the Subway station, to Times Square, to Fifth Avenue. It's worth staying here!

  • "LOVE this hotel but why no wash cloths?"
This is probably the third or fourth time we've stayed here over the last couple of years and it remains one of my favorite NYC hotels. It's a beautiful property with impeccably restored old NYC elegance. It smells fresh and slightly floral when you enter (don't know what scent they pump into the lobby but it's nice). I'm normally not a huge fan of black and white in decor but the mauve and yellow and occasionally brighter colors incorporated throughout make it all lovely and calming. The staff are service-oriented and welcoming. The rooms are larger than most NYC hotel rooms and extremely clean. Since my hubby is a member of the ambassador program we got a little upgrade to our room, so we had two arm chairs and a handy oval table near the windows plus a roomier bathroom. There was a little fridge but it's stocked so that if you pick something up it'll charge you, although there was a little spot to put our own beverage. Personally I appreciate mini-fridges in the room that are empty for me to put in my own stuff (in this case there is a great little store across the street). The bed was comfy and there were enough charging outlets and lighting. In the morning there is a surprisingly good buffet breakfast behind the gin bar. So everything was great except for one inexplicable thing. We got back to the hotel around 1 a.m. after a really long and hot NYC evening and just wanted to wash our faces and put on our pj's and discovered there were no wash cloths! My hubby called down to the front desk to ask for some and we sat there, waiting. It was maybe 15-20 minutes later and we were still waiting so I called again and in about five minutes they were delivered and we could finally wash our faces and relax. I don't really understand why our room would lack wash cloths given that this hotel seems to pay attention to all kinds of details. And it seemed to take a really long time to remedy this lack. Nevertheless, I still love this place and look forward to another visit when we want to spend a night or two in NYC.

  • "Chic hotel "
This hotel is beauty and the room is clean and has sufficient facility. Although the fitness room does not have any windows and could be a little bit bigger. The hotel has a nice distance to several of tourist attractions and close to subway. The staff is quite aloof but friendly.

  • "The Little Things Matter Too"
The New York Barclay Hotel offers a pleasant room with comfortable beds, good bathroom lighting and well cared for furnishings and appointments. But, that is not what makes the New York Barclay a special place. From the moment you approach the desk to check in, there is an exceptional level of attention to your needs, wants and desires. The staff is wonderful. As an Ambassador member, I receive a fruit offering delivered to my room. At other hotels, I have received nice fruit assortments. The fruit assortment at this hotel not only contains perfectly ripe offerings, but it is a work of art compelling one to sample. Currants, champagne grapes, plums, a pear and nectarines were just some of the delicacies. The lobby area is filled with comfortable seating and the club lounge (recommended extra) is an oasis from the hectic pace of the city. The food offerings at the restaurant are somewhat pricey, But I challenge anyone to leave any of the food behind. It is just too good to waste. Quiet elegance, simply stated. I enjoy the New York Barclay a lot.

  • "Good location"
This hotel is well located, near to most of the attractions and Grand Central station as well as various subways. The hotel is well presented but some areas could use modernisation. The rooms are clean but we regularly had to ask for towels (there were 2 of us staying in the room and we were often left with one towel!). The shower pressure could also be improved. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The main gripe is the lack of presence of bar staff - the reception area is next to the bar and during busier times the bar would overspill into the reception area. Having stayed in a lot of 4/5 star hotels, in other hotels the bar staff regularly wander around the bar area/reception area to check if any guests required drink/food but this does not happen at all at this hotel. The hotel may want to consider this as the guests would spend more money on food/drink if they did this!

  • "Great Location..."
We arrived in New York for two nights here. The stay was for the most part very enjoyable : the room was large and comfortable, and the level of cleanliness exactly what you expect from an Intercontinental. The lobby area is very attractive, however checking in was slow and rather frustrating : only one person on the desks, no priority check in for elite guests and several other staff members (baggage boys, helpers etc) just standing at their podium watching as the line grew longer and people got more annoyed at the wait. Not one of them felt able to pick up the phone or go and report the problem?! A second person arrived and began dealing with the line but by then the experience was definitely a negative one. The bed was extremely comfortable, but the towels were of second class. The first set included a pair of very old, fraying and slightly ripped hand towels. Quality control is needed. Staff, aside from the check in, were perfectly fine and a big thank you to the concierge who dealt with us. A young man who truly knew New York and who was most helpful in our dealings with him.

  • "Great hotel, great location "
My new NYC hotel! Stayed here for the first time during the US Open. The hotel is great, the rooms are larger than other hotel rooms in NYC so you don’t feel squished. The bathroom is A+, really nice fixtures, shower, and amenities. And if you are lucky (and a tennis fan) you may see a player or 2 wandering around the front lobby or outside waiting for transport, we did! Peter was so helpful and went out of his way to accommodate our needs. We loved it so much we booked for Thanksgiving at check out!

  • "overall excellent but with a few minor issues"
This is an excellent hotel with superb facilities. Check in was slick and efficient. Staff very friendly and helpful as they took booking details. Room is a good size, spotlessly clean and very good appointments. Well stocked mini bar and tea and coffee, iron and dressing gowns. Bed is extremely comfortable and room very quiet. The gym has modern equipment of dumbbells and machines. Ample cardio machines of rowing, cycling, treadmills and x trainers. The room is not sufficiently air conditioned and gets uncomfortably hot. The conceige service is outstanding. Special mention for Adrian Proietti who at every request went the extra mile. Recommended some awesome visit tips. Very good at his job and so friendly and accommodating. The house maids are excellent- friendly and very efficient leaving the room spotless The location of the hotel is convenient for key tourist areas and the subway. The one aspect of this hotel which is not as good as the rest is the bar area. The air conditioning is too extreme creating a temperature which is uncomfortably cold. The bar staff are not friendly and appear not to be happy in their role. On many occasions some of the bar staff couldn’t even say good evening and were generally grumpy. We tended to go elsewhere. This is easily avoided by going elsewhere so shouldn’t mar the overall assessment of this excellent hotel. Strongly recommended.

  • "A very nice hotel with an unprofessional staff"
Stayed there for 3 nights. We made a reservation for 2 rooms, one of them with a Club Lounge Access, but the reception staff could not find it in the their system, although it was written in my voucher. We had to wait for aprox. 20 minutes before they approved the reservation. Few days after leaving the hotel, i saw a new charge from the hotel in my cc statement. When i asked them what is the reason for this charge, i was told that it was for entering the club lounge. Such a poor staff, such an unprofessional behavior. Of course, after explaining them again the whole story, i received a credit with lot of apologies. Except that, the hotel is very nice. You can see that recently it was rennovated. The rooms are large, very clean and comfort, and with all the right accessories. Bathrooms look beautiful. The service is very good. Breakfast is excellent. The lounge is of a high standard. I didn't like the fact that the lobby sometimes, looked like a train station. The location is very good.

  • "Our best accommodation in NYC up to this day"
I was super lucky to get a discounted rate at around EUR 160 per night for a Superior King so decided to try what looked like a good hotel situated very near Time Sq. Boy was I wrong. The hotel is not good but great! You have a luxurious feeling from the very first moment you enter the lobby and get greeted by very kind and professional staff. The room itself is very elegant (art deco style), decent size TV with good choice of channels and a bed where you feel like sleeping on clouds. The location is some 10 minutes casual walk to Time Square and 5 minutes from Grand Central, do I need to write anything more on how central it is? All in all, very highly recommended!

  • "Best of the original with contemporary updates"
Recently redesigned and restored, this classic hotel charms and comforts in a great mid-town location. The rooms are beautiful with all new bathrooms and furnishings. The beds are amazingly comfortable and the lobby now has a vibrant bar/lounge area adjacent to the traditional large and comfortable common space. Efficient check-in and and friendly professional staff. My only concern is the "destination fee" of $30 per day which encourages the use of hotel facilities like the bar/food service and laundry by giving a 25 and 15 dollar credit for their use. Seems an unnecessary additional charge.
