What to see and do in Bangkok ?

If this is your first time in Bangkok, you’re in for a treat. Thailand’s iconic capital city is a true feast for the senses.

We can’t talk about Bangkok without mentioning its infamous nightlife. Aside from the cheesy bars of Soi Cowboy, the city has plenty of trendy cocktail bars and places to grab a drink in more elegant surroundings. Of course, the best place to kick off your evening is Sky Bar: the rooftop bar from The Hangover 2.

Bangkok has a spiritual side too, with plenty of temples like Wat Arun and Wat Pho to visit. You can get to them using the Chao Phraya riverboat, or on a tuk-tuk from anywhere in the old town. Remember: in religious temples you need to keep shoulders and legs above the knee covered. This goes for guys as well as girls. You also need to take off your shoes.

Oh, and bring an empty suitcase: shopping in Bangkok is fantastic. You can easily get lost amongst the stalls at Chatuchak Weekend Market or in the quirky shops of MBK. There are plenty of high-end malls to explore too. Our favourite is Terminal 21: it has an airport theme and each floor is based on a different city.

Attractions: Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Arun, Jim Thompson House, Khaosan Road, Lumphini Park.
